Michael is the Head of Survey and BIM Manager at Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited. He has been taking the leading role in Hong Kong’s surveying industry for 24 years, which involves managing survey works on over 20 major construction projects locally. These projects include Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2 – SkyPlaza and Passenger Terminal Building, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge – Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities, HK Jockey Club Shatin Racecourse and several major railway projects. Currently, he is responsible for (ASD) East Kowloon Cultural Centre, and Hong Kong International Airport, Terminal 1 Annex Building and Expansion project.
As the contractor of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge – Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities, Michael has advocated the use of BIM in this project. It is the first comprehensive BIM application of a large civil infrastructure in Hong Kong. The BIM values from its design stage to actual construction to future facility maintenance phase. He has also encouraged the adoption of technologies such as Laser Scanning as well as drones & 3D Reality Modelling. Together with BIM, these technologies help efficiently manage the project and create more comprehensive spatial information for the site.
Throughout his 24 years of experience in the surveying industry, Michael has been dedicated to promote the community of Civil Engineering Surveyors. He was the Chairman of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Hong Kong) in 2013-2015. He has been a Registered Professional Surveyor (Land Surveying) of Surveyors Registration Board since 2012. He is also the Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Fellow Member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineering Surveyors and the Fellow Member of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors since 2011.
