TANG CHUN NANG, JORAN

COUNCILOR

BSc(Hons), MHKICBIM

Joran has been contributing in large-scale infrastructure projects, including Central-Wan Chai Bypass, Hong Kong–Zhuhai– Macao Bridge and Tung Chung New Town Extension. Thanks to the multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, his experience of surveying and construction modeling covers different works categories, including site / slope formations, roads, bridges, tunnels, reclamation, utilities networks, buildings and architectural facade.

With the substantial experience in BIM with mega projects, Joran shows his strong expertise in surveying, data management and modeling presentation. He is also keen on challenges in acting in different positions and roles (from survey, design to team management; from contractor, consultant to client). The integration of understanding in different professions brings him a strong background in design, construction and operations.

Having been coordinating with clients, designers, consultants, contractors and frontline, Joran believes that construction might easily come with a few twists, due to accuracy, interpretation, link apart, misunderstanding, or sometimes surprises. BIM helps each stakeholder (including clients, architects, engineers, surveyors and end users of projects) to share the same vision from design to the usage of a construction project.

He also believes that BI“M” shall consist of both Modeling and Management, especially in the mega civil projects. Modeling refers the 3D digital mocker and Computer-Aided-Drawings displays the details of every single component features. More importantly, management! According to the well-structured layouts that follow every steps of project cycle, it allows modifying and improving the project together with stakeholders. BIM (management and modeling) bring macroscopic & microscopic view, as a result, it efficiently minimizes the cost and better fulfills the clients’ and end-users’ expectations in return.
